Acceptance of exchange students is limited to the exchange agreements of the Faculty.

To study medicine as an exchange student, you can apply for:

Licentiate's Degree Programme in Medicine

The main language of instruction in the programme is Finnish. For information on the degree programme, please visit the web pages of the faculty.

Erasmus+ training period at Tampere University Hospital (TAUH)

Would you like to come to Tampere University Hospital for a 1-3-month training period?


Application criteria:

  • You are currently studying as a medical degree student at a university outside Finland
  • You have completed at least your preclinical skills studies
  • You are entitled to an Erasmus+ grant provided by your home university (You will not be paid for your training period.)
  • Your home university can provide you with liability insurance


Application periods:

  • 15 September - 15 October 2018 for Spring term 2019 arrivals     
  • March – May 2019 for Autumn term 2019 arrivals


The enclosures you are required to submit with your application:

  • CV and motivation letter
  • Proof of knowledge of English according to level B2 language requirements
  • Official transcript of you academic records provided by your home university translated into English
  • A certificate attesting to your status as an enrolled student at your home university
  • A letter of recommendation provided by your home university
  • A list of the requirements and goals your home university has set for the training period
  • A copy of your passport
  • A preliminary agreement on the Erasmus+ training period

Application period for the spring semester 2019 is 15 September - 15 October 2018


Accommodation is provided by the Tampere Student Housing Foundation (TOAS) and the INT Housing Programme of the Student's Tampere organisation. The student is responsible for the residential costs himself. Further information
