High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will visit the University of Tampere and give a lecture on 10 October. The event at the University Main auditorium begins at 11.00 o'clock and ends at 12.05. The audience is requested to be present and seated in the main auditorium at 10.45.
HR/VP Mogherini was conferred the title of an honorary doctor in absentia at the University of Tampere in August 2018. She will now formally receive the title of an honorary doctor and the symbols of the doctor’s hat and sword. Mogherini will also give a public lecture, the title of which is A superpower for peace: Europe’s choice in a challenging world.
The audience can pose questions after the lecture.
In 2014, EU’s High Representative Federica Mogherini, an Italian, was appointed High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. She plays a central role in international conflict management and diplomacy. As Vice-President of the European Commission, Mogherini has strengthened the co-operation of EU institutions and the effectiveness of policies as well as improved EU’s external relations.
Mogherini was invited as an honorary doctor by the Faculty of Management. Research on the European Union, political institutions and international relations are significant and internationally recognised competence areas of the Faculty of Management.
